AAUW
Since 1881, AAUW has been one of the nation’s leading voices promoting education and equity for women and girls. AAUW has a nationwide network of more than 100,000 members and donors, 1,000 branches, and 500 college/university institutional partners.
Since AAUW’s founding more than 130 years ago, members have examined and taken positions on the fundamental issues of the day—educational, social, economic, and political. AAUW’s commitment to educational equity is reflected in its public policy advocacy, community programs, leadership development, conventions and conferences, national partnerships, and international connections.
GRESHAM AREA BRANCH
Our branch was established in 1971. In August 2013 the branch became an AAUW 501(c)(3) Affiliate Branch and reorganized as an Oregon public benefit corporation.
Currently, we have over 60 members from the Greater Gresham Metro Area and surrounding cities and towns. We are local community branch with members who are working and retired professionals; homemakers; student affiliates; and community leaders and volunteers.
MEMBERSHIP
Membership is open to all graduates holding an associates degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
Please consider joining our branch and having fun working with us for a good cause--supporting AAUW's national platform and programs while providing local girls and women with learning and leadership opportunities to empower their success.
ALL-VOLUNTEER BRANCH LEADERSHIP
Our branch members govern the branch. A volunteer board of directors of elected officers and appointed directors and nonvoting board committee chairs oversee and manage all branch activities. The president serves as the CEO. The Communications Vice President is the corporate secretary. The Finance Vice President is the corporate treasurer. We use AAUW programs and develop our own. We have no paid staff and rely on member volunteers to provide all branch services, run operations, and perform all needed jobs.
